Concept:
The site for medical college is located in Swat valley. The drama and sensitivity of this topography demanded an architecture that was on one hand environmentally-sensitive and on the other hand capable of exploiting the surrounding views.
The project draws inspiration from British Medical College, London. The major architectural elements of the building are determined by the climate of the area. The building is made in brick and consists of 15” thick walls due to the harsh weather conditions in Swat. The design is based on modern lines and consists of sloping roofs because of heavy snowfall in the region.
The master planis similarly arrayed along the contours of the site. The site is contoured and steps down towards the river. The contours are utilized in an effective way, and the major exposure is provided towards the riverside which offers extraordinary views.
The triangular geometry of the façade is inspired by the contours of the surrounding mountains.
